Do you know how to choose the best mascara? There are as many options out there as there are ways to wear it: mouth gently agape, brush held in the horizontal direction, or applying vertical strokes to hold on to all the tips. Perhaps initially, you go downwards your lash curler way? Or you like to move the brush from the root to the tip? There are not only myriad application techniques, but we are also wasted on selection when we talk about the choice available, too.
Realistically, There is no such thing as one-size-fits-all mascara because lashes come in various colors and textures, similar to our hair on the head. Luckily, you only need to do some test, trial, and error learning to land on the correct formula and brush size, and you will accomplish your stunning lash goals.
Firstly, you need to see what kind of finish you are looking to get. While some like a clumpy, voluminous, full-on eyelash for extra drama, others favor a less intense, softly defined eyelash line. There are mascara formulas for everyone ranging from lengthening and separating to volumizing, long-lasting, and curling. In simple words, decide your favorite look before purchasing a mascara.
Combine an excellent formula with a brilliant wand, either a multi-pronged or curvaceous one, and you will have a top-notch mascara. Ladies wish to own something that doesn’t flake or transfer to surround the eye area but that is effortlessly buildable for a more attractive look, should we wish for it. Choose a color – the most popular is black, but a rich chocolaty brown is alluring and soft, and shades such as deep purple also flatter most eye tones.
Type of Mascara
Waterproof Mascara
Waterproof mascara is made for the ladies who shed a lot of tears due to happiness or sadness. They can tuck these types of mascaras in their makeup bags for wild hot sunny days full of pool parties, nights cursed with heavy rain, or any other fancy event of the year.
Lengthening Mascara
You cannot reach for any old tube when you are on the search for longer eyelashes. You require a unique mascara wand that perfectly coats your eyelashes while also curling them. The ideal lengthening mascaras will rival even the extreme dramatic volume of lash extensions and falsies.
Volumizing Mascara
Save your eyeballs’ drama with the awesome volume boost mascara that curls and darkens your eyelashes, offering the illusion of false lashes without any help from the glue. You should go for a deep, intense black mascara with maximum volume or a formula that is, at minimum, a few colors darker than your natural eyelashes.
Curling Mascara
As you can guess from its name, the mascara makes your lashes curl in an upward direction, making them look more volumized and longer. Use a curling mascara to help you defy gravity and as a helping hand to your eyelash curler.
Lash Defining Mascara
The applicator has the key to lash defining mascara for you to have defined lashes. Bristles designed to coat and lift each strand separately is required. It can be used as falsies lash lift mascara. Get this mascara to enjoy defined lashes to complete your look for the special event.
Non-Clumping Mascara
Non-clumping mascara enables you to say goodbye to your clumpy mascara days and enjoy the freedom to swipe, flutter and go.
How to Find the Best Mascara?
Maracas come in a variety of textures and formulas; some lengthen, separate, volumize and curl. Some are unlimited mascara that tints your lashes to depths of blackness, while others give the lightness of false eyelashes. This wide variety makes choosing a mascara fun as well as a challenge. Formulation:
Generally, the basic ingredients in mascara don’t differ much from tube to tube. They essentially have a combination of pigment and wax but the specific ingredients in a certain product can vary widely. Some contain ingredients that nourish while providing clean volume to your eyelashes, especially the one with carnauba wax that nourishes the lashes.
If you want to wear cruelty-free and vegan mascara, steer clear of the ones that contain animal ingredients or animal-derived ingredients such as beeswax, honey, lanolin, or carmine. For sensitive skin and eyes, find the one mascara that is free of sulfates, parabens, fragrance, and silicones as they can cause irritation.
If you want a waterproof and smudge-proof mascara, pick the one that has extra waxes and silicones as they increase water resistance but its overuse can dry out or shed your lashes. So just one coat of waterproof mascara is enough as too much of it can be difficult to remove with just warm water.
Many mascaras contain nourishing ingredients such as almond, castor, or jojoba oil that moisturize your lashes and promote their growth. Also lookout for the term tubular formula or “tubing.” Instead of coating your lashes with a layer of pigment, tubular mascara wraps each individual lash in water-resistant polymers for a more defined, lengthened, and separated effect. It can easily come right off with makeup remover or warm water and a washcloth.
Brush Type:
The shape of the end of the mascara wand is what really creates a volumizing and lengthening effect on lashes. The thin and skinny brushes give definition and length while a fluffier brush provides volume and thickness. For lift and curl, a curved brush is the best. So basically the shape of the brush determines what kind of effect you will have and there is nothing like high-tech brush.
Brush Material:
The brush of mascaras also varies with their material. Nylon brushes are more common with fluffier, more flexible bristles and shape similar to a hairbrush. They work well for lengthening and volumizing but they are not ideal for defining and separating individual eyelashes.
Plastic and silicone brushes are better if you want to define and separate individual eyelashes because their bristles are stiffer and thicker. Moreover, they are highly durable and will last for more than months of regular use.
Thinner brushes with shorter bristles offer more control and precision especially when you are trying to reach the corner and lower lashes. On the other hand, a jumbo-size brush with longer bristles gives a more dramatic, sweeping falsies look.
Performance:
Some of the features of a good mascara are that it won’t clump, feel dry or crunchy or stick your eyelashes together. It should do what it claims to do, whether it’s lengthening, lifting, volumizing, or curling. Also, it should stay in place for several hours without smudging, flaking, or transferring to your eyelids. It shouldn’t be impossible to remove and should come off fairly easily with makeup remover or water and cleanser.
Eyes Mascara Hack:
Regardless of which mascara you choose, here’s a tip on the best way to enhance your eyelashes’ thickness and give them an extra life. Every mascara is a volume mascara, it is the technique you use that makes a difference.
Our technique is that once you have applied mascara to the underside of your eyelashes, look down and swish it on the top, start from the root and comb through while flicking the ends upward. To get those colossal lashes, apply a second coat.
